A guide to Melincourt Waterfall

Melincourt Waterfall is a lesser-known, 80ft high waterfall located just outside of the Brecon Beacons national park boundary near the town of Resolven.

Under-appreciated and under-visited, It’s a beautiful set of waterfalls (there is a smaller waterfall to the right if the main falls) which shares a resemblance to the mighty Henrhyd falls.

Unfortunately, you cannot walk behind this waterfall, but its secluded location and lack of visitors certainly make up for this.

Where to park for Melincourt Falls

Parking is available in a car park just off the A465 in the village of Melincourt.

The car park is pay and display and there is space for around 30 cars so I dont think you will ever struggle to find a space.

How to reach Melincourt Waterfall

The waterfalls are extremely easy to access from the car park.

Simply cross the A465 and follow the path alongside the eastern bank (right-hand side) of the river upstream for 500m, ignoring the steps that branch off to the right.

The route, which has a very gentle include, takes you through a very tranquil woodland. Although the path is well-maintained and flat It can get muddy underfoot so choose your footwear wisely.

The walk should take between 5-15 minutes each way depending on your fitness levels.

There’s not much else to do here apart from admire the 80ft waterfall from the end of the trail. If there’s been heavy rain there will also be a secondary fall to the right of the path.

Although Melincourt shares a resemblance with Henrhyd falls, its base is strewn with several large boulders, which prevents you getting close to it.
